Different Types of Copper Sinks

Although copper is not a stranger to appliances in the kitchen, it hasn’t been used for sinks until recent years. Nowadays, copper kitchen sinks are the new fad, which is thought of as quite glamorous due to it’s robust color. If you’re in the market for a copper sink then it’s important to keep in mind the different styles of sinks before you make a purchase:

  • Drop-In Sinks – These sinks are typically designed to fit precisely into a countertop that is pre-cut for a sink. The installations of these sinks is simple, making it ideal for the DIY project. Although these are the most common and conventional types of sink, in recent years there has been a trend of adding some more flair to them.

  • Undermount Sinks – Similar to drop-in sinks, undermount sinks work with pre-cut countertops, but go underneath the granite countertop instead of on-top. This is a very classy look which also frees up countertop real estate and makes cleaning even easier because the lip of the sink is under the countertop.

  • Farmhouse Sinks – These are arguably the most fashionable sink style of them all, with a beautiful apron front that sure to turn heads. Farmhouse sinks are the ultimate mix of traditional and contemporary styles, that go well with all themes, from rustic cottages to lofts in the big city.

After you choose the style of sink that you want, then you can do some research on whether or not going for a copper sink is the right decision for you. Copper, as a material, has it’s pros and cons when compared to other materials, so it’s worth doing some reading about copper before jumping to a purchase.
