Internet Problem That Only Happens With Google Chrome

Well the title is a little bit misleading because it’s not necessarily a problem caused by the Google Chrome web browser, but while using Chrome the other day I received an error that said DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN when I was trying to get on Facebook. I thought the error was strange for one because I’ve never seen it before, and two how could Facebook be having a problem?

Upon doing research it looks like something with my internet was messed up, and many guides recommend that users should do things like “flush DNS settings” and something else about changing DNS settings back to default because something may have changed them.

It’s also worth noting that if the first solutions didn’t work (fixing internet connection issues) then possibly a fresh install of Chrome could also fix it. I have to say, I was close to just installing Firefox and seeing if it made a difference, but I’m glad I stuck it out because I prefer Google Chrome over both Firefox and the default Windows Edge web browser.

In the end I ended up following the directions to flush my DNS from the command prompt. I’m definitely far from being technically savvy, but most guides out there should be able to give step by step directions that anyone can follow, as long as you know how to type on a keyboard at least.
